Living and controlled reversible‐activation polymerization (<scp>RAP</scp>) on the way to reversible‐deactivation radical polymerization (<scp>RDRP</scp>)

چکیده
In 2010, an IUPAC task group comprising Aubrey Jenkins, Dick Jones and Graeme Moad coined ‘reversible-deactivation radical polymerization (RDRP)’ as a new term to describe what up that time had been known variously living or controlled polymerization. This paper describes the steps missteps in terminological development of RDRP. The introduced is currently one more highly cited terminology papers. © 2022 Commonwealth Australia. Living Radical Polymerization: a Review
Free radical polymerization is one of the most widely employed polymerization techniques. This technique is applied to prepare latexes to be used in paints, high molecular weight poly (methyl methacrylate) for safety glass (Plexiglas), or foamed poly (styrene) to be applied in coffee cups. Some advantages of radical polymerizations, with respect to other techniques, are the relative insensitivi...
متن کاملLiving Radical Polymerization via Organic Superbase Catalysis
Organic superbases reacted with alkyl iodides (R–I) to reversibly generate the corresponding alkyl radicals (R). Via this reaction, organic superbases were utilized as new and highly efficient organic catalysts in living radical polymerization. The superbase catalysts included guanidines, aminophosphines and phosphazenes. Low-polydispersity polymers (Mw/Mn = 1.1–1.4) were obtained up to high co...
متن کاملPreparation of Reactive and Thermal Stable Hyperbranched Graft Copolymers/ Clay Nanocomposite via ‘Living’ Free Radical Polymerization
Exfoliated poly (Chloromethyl styrene-co-styrene)-g-polyacrylonitryle/organo- modified montmorillonite [P(CMSt-co-St)-g-PAN/O-MMT] nanocomposite was synthesized through solution intercalation method by using atom transfer and nitroxide mediated radical polymerization. At first, poly (chloromethyl styrene-costyrene) copolymer was synthesized by nitroxide - mediated “living” free radical polyme...
متن کاملImproving photo-controlled living radical polymerization from trithiocarbonates through the use of continuous-flow techniques.
Herein, we report simple flow reactor designs that enable photo-controlled living radical polymerization (photo-CRP) from trithiocarbonates (TTCs) with significant enhancements in scalability and reaction rates compared to the analogous batch reactions. We also demonstrate the "on/off" photo-switchability of this reaction under flow conditions.
